Melbourne Fashion Institute (MFI) offer the Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design and Merchandising; a three year course that provides a maximum of creative, technical and business training for those who wish to have careers as a fashion designer, couturier, fashion graphic designer and product developer. It is also suitable for people wanting to establish their own fashion business or work in a fashion company.
This comprehensive course is designed to give students a complete range of practical skills and knowledge in design, production and business. The focus will be on designing a collection of garments for a fashion parade. The course focuses on a broad range of topics over three years that align to most areas of the fashion industry.

- Pattern Making and Garment Construction
- Computer Aided Design and Illustration (CAD 1)
- Fashion Design
Year 2: Certificate IV in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising MST40516
- Pattern Engineering for Apparel
- Computer Aided Design and Illustration (CAD 2)
- Fashion Business (commencing)
Year 3: Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising MST50116
- Fashion Business (Continued)
- Advanced Fashion Design

Assessment requires completion of all assignments, set tasks, projects, tests and presentations. In order to develop knowledge and skills to successfully complete the course, students are required to be punctual and encouraged to attend all classes.

- 12 months with MFI pre-requisites
- Four days per week of face-to-face delivery/assessment
